A Day in the Life at Marilyn Reed Lucia Child Care Study CenterAt 8:15 am, three-year-old Sabrina and her dad arrive at preschool. She gets a second hug goodbye, greets her teacher, and joins her friends at play. While Dad goes to his job as a research fellow, Sabrina is across the street at the Marilyn Reed Lucia Child Care Study Center, where she will spend her day playing, learning, and making new friends. At 9:30, Sabrina is on the playground, making "chocolate chip cookies" in the sandbox and having fun on the slide and jungle gym. After a midmorning snack, Sabrina uses construction paper, crayons, felt, and glue to create a collage of her favorite colors. At noon, Sabrina enjoys a nutritious lunch of macaroni & cheese and fresh fruit. A classmate's mom stops in for a visit from her UCSF job to say hello to her son. By 1:00, Sabrina is on her cot, ready for nap time. In the afternoon, Sabrina and her friends read a storybook with their teacher at circle time, where they also sing songs and talk about their upcoming field trip to Golden Gate Park. It's 5:15 pm, and Sabrina's mom comes to take her home. Sabrina is having such a good time, she doesn't want to leave, until she remembers she can come back again tomorrow. |
